Waiting isn’t Wasting…

Have you ever been through a waiting period in your life? Are you going through one now? Waiting is never the easiest and when you’re going through it, it can feel like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.

This Sunday our pastor gave a great sermon about waiting and what God can do during that period. He said that a waiting season is not a wasted season and sometimes we are the reason that the waiting season is prolonged. Instead of complaining about having to wait for something, we should instead be asking what He might be trying to reveal or teach us through it. Patience perhaps? Trust? The right timing? Purpose? There are so many reasons we could be going through a waiting period in our lives and it’s tough. If we embrace it, I think it can only make us stronger, more patient, trusting, sure of ourselves and the direction our lives are going…

I’m going through one of those waiting periods right now and it has been hard. But I’m learning that there are reasons why. I just have to be reminded every once in a while that contentment is not determined by our circumstances. Happiness comes and goes so you need to find joy and contentment in the circumstances you’re in. Find contentment through gratitude. Start each day thankful for what you have instead of wallowing in what you don’t. Try to find the silver lining and the reasons behind the waiting. They’re there if you just open your eyes and look. Or ask…because if you ask, He will show you.

Our pastor reminded us that sometimes we take on things we were never meant to take on. What does that mean? Well, sometimes we just need to let go and let God. Remember…His grace is sufficient for you. His power is made perfect in our weakness. When we are weak, then we are strong…because of Him.

So embrace the waiting…find joy and contentment in what you have…let go of the control we all so desperately crave and let God handle what you can’t. Don’t stress or complain because that only causes problems physically, emotionally, and mentally. Give it to Him and remember that He is ultimately in control and that your waiting period is not a wasted period.

Until next time friends!
